Our trip to Cape San Blas...
Hello to our Family and Friends,
Edward and I recently visited St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. It's located on the Florida Panhandle between Apalachicola and Panama City. The park consists of roughly 2400 acres on Cape San Blas. It's a very rugged, isolated, and extremely beautiful place.
We enjoyed a very relaxing week. Our routine consisted of playing rummy, walking on the beach, eating, napping and reading. Sounds like we had it rough, huh?
For entertainment, there is an abundance of wildlife, both aquatic and terrestrial. On the peninsula are many deer, beach mice (now endangered), birds and snakes. We saw an alligator basking in a tide pool one afternoon.
Of course there are many marine animals including fish, octopi, scallops, Sea Turtles, and dolphins. The Sea Turtles are nesting at this time of year and we were fortunate to see one swim ashore. There are many Sea Turtle nests along the gulf shore that have been identified and marked.
If you enjoy the serenity of nature and some of the most beautiful sunsets on earth, you might want to visit the area. I hope you enjoy looking at some of the photos we took on our trip.
